Worldmapper

Worldmapper
This brilliant website gives world information in an interesting format. Worldmapper is a collection of world maps, called cartograms, where territories are re-sized on each map according to the subject of interest.
So, for example, on a map showing population, China and India are much larger than their land mass, whilst Australia becomes a tiny sliver of land.
The illustrated topics are many and varied, and include: work, housing, education, poverty, health, disease, death, and other development subjects.
The raw statistics and some commentary are also available alongside the graphs.
Many of the maps can be downloaded as PDFs and printed out as posters with accompanying information. Ideal either for pupils studying development or global economics, or as a form time activity with your class, exploring where the most McDonald's restaurants are in the world!
