The Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem
Created by
This DVD resource uses drone footage to explore the tropical rainforest ecosystem in Ecuador. It takes a visual journey through the extraordinary biodiversity of the amazon rainforest, providing fantastic examples of adaptation, stratification and competition. From the forest floor to way up in the canopy, this resource explores the tropical rainforest's distinct biotic and abiotic characteristics and the conditions that help create this biodiversity hotspot. Climate, soil profile, nutrient and water cycle, are all considered, as is their interdependence with flora and fauna.
As well as the 24-minute film, there are extensive teachers’ notes and student activities. The resource links in with many English exam board specifications; for further details, visit the Pumpkin Interactive website.
