Our Africa website
Created by
Our Africa is a website developed by SOS Children, a charity that has been working in Africa for the past 40 years. The aim of this ambitious project was to let children across Africa film their lives and countries the way they see them. Unfortunately the films are no longer available on the website but the interactive map, film transcripts and lesson plans remain a valuable resource. ‘Our Africa’ celebrates the 40th anniversary of SOS Children’s work in the continent, and the site will evolve as they visit more and more of the 50+ countries they work in, and speak with more children. Teachers from around the UK have been developing teaching resources for using Our Africa in the classroom. These are mainly geared around the Key Stage 3 curriculum (ages 11-14) and can be selected by country or topic.
