Model United Nations

Every year around the world more than 400,000 school and university students take part in Model United Nations conferences. These events are a role-play of UN meetings and are usually based on the Security Council or General Assembly committees. Participants assume the role of national ambassadors or representatives; they engage in a debate and seek to solve global issues.
The United Nations Association - UK (UNA-UK) has developed this set of resources to support all those organising and taking part in Model UN events. The web page answers the 'top five' questions that UNA-UK receive about Model UN, and has links to downloadable PDFs they have written to support teachers organising a Model UN.
As well as a comprehensive guide to running and participating in a Model United Nations, there is also a set of curriculum-linked lesson plans for Key Stage 3, covering the following topics:
