We all have the power to create a future which is better for ourselves, each other, and the planet. By using our creativity and imagination to think about what the best possible future looks like, we can take the first steps to making that future come true.

Classroom question of the month:

If future generations told stories of how you looked after their future, what would they say?

Let’s practise!

Students imagine living in the year 2125 and write a letter to people from 2025.

Class Activity 1: 1h - 1h and 30 min
Classroom activity: Letters from the future
Task: Write a letter

  • Step 1: Ask students to imagine they are living in the year 2125, on a healthy Earth where all life forms thrive. With eyes closed, they visualise this future.
  • Step 2: Have them write a letter from this future, describing the improvements over the past 100 years and thanking people from 2025 for their actions that made the world better (e.g., "In 2125, the sea is full of healthy fish and sea creatures. We're really grateful you started using less single-use plastic in 2025.").
  • Step 3: Prompt them to consider: What actions could people in 2025 take to create a healthier and happier future? What impact would those actions have?

Class Activity 2: 1h - 1h and 30 min
Creative challenge: Rebooting the future through art
Task: Using any creative media of your choice, create a vision of a future that you would like to see. Where do you fit into this vision? How can your actions today help to make this future a reality? Take a picture of your artwork and write a short description to share online.
