Bangladesh Geography pack
Created by
This set of resources from CAFOD are designed to support the Geography curriculum at Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7). They consist of a PowerPoint set of photo cards and classroom activities to help inspire a curiosity about the world and its people. There are also Teachers' Notes explaining how the resource can be used. The resources help meet the core requirement for pupils to expand their knowledge and understanding beyond the local area to include a small area in Bangladesh, a contrasting non-European country. The pack enables children to develop their:
- locational knowledge
- place knowledge
- understanding of human and physical geography
- geographical skills.
The photographs largely focus on a small area in south-western Bangladesh, in or near Mongla town, on the edge of the Sundarbans forest, although there are also a few city photos. Another CAFOD resource, A day with Musa, is also available to accompany these resources - it is a 'big book' which follows a typical day in the life of Bangladeshi schoolboy.
