The Golden Rule, echoing through the wisdom of ages and diverse cultures, calls us to treat others and our planet with the same care and respect we desire for ourselves. Rooted in empathy and compassion, it transcends boundaries of religion and ideology, reminding us of our shared humanity and interconnectedness with nature. In today's world, where self-interest often prevails, embracing the Golden Rule offers a pathway to creating a more harmonious and sustainable society, where kindness and cooperation can flourish, fostering a world where all life can thrive.

Classroom question of the month:

If someone you know described the way that you treat people, what would you hope that they say?

Let’s practise!

Play the Gumption Game with students, where they show and share examples of inspiring leaders with the class.

Class Activity 1: 30 min - 1h
Unleash Your Gumption
Introducing the Gumption Game! This activity is focused on identifying incredible leaders that have remarkable "gumption" - that get-up-and-go spirit to tackle tough problems.

Here's how to play:

  • Step 1: Introduce your class to inspiring leaders (that you might have previously studied in class) who embody in many different ways the spirit of gumption. Or in alternative, ask them to identify some, they can be ‘everyday’ people that they know.
  • Step 2: Ask everyone to choose the one that resonates the most and that they find the most inspirational.
  • Step 3: Encourage the students to write why they find that leader particularly inspiring and what teachings can they gather from their remarkable gumption that they can emulate in their own life.
