Resource
Climate Action and Rising Sea Levels
Created by
One of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals is to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, as well as to make cities and human settlements more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. This resource has been developed by The British Council, in partnership with The Royal Society, to enhance science learning in schools. It provides scientific background to the issue of climate change and the challenges faced by rising sea levels. It has the following activity ideas to help 7-14-year-old students investigate and explore the subject in more depth:
- how much flooding occurs near you?
- what happens when water temperature rises?
- defend your town from the sea
- cross-curricular activities
There is also a short film clip that can be showed in lessons, which features pupils in Kiribati exploring this issue in class.
